Pixie Sticks

Dammit, Disney has done it again.

OK so I like Disney. I especially like the Disney Channel… a lot. I’ve seen just about every episode of “That’s So Raven”, “Kim Possible”, “American Dragon”, and “Corey in the House”. I have also DVR’d countless Disney movies (High School Musical anyone??) I can’t get enough of it.

And now I’ll share my excitement with you. I’m 100% sure I’m alone in this, but I can contain myself no more!

I am bursting at the seams to see the new Disney movie, “Tinkerbell”, I can’t help thinking it’s going to be a healthy dose of colorful computer-animated girly goodness. Ahhh yes, a definite treat for the eyes.

It’s not unusual for me to have the Disney channel on in the background while I’m online, I like most of the shows and usually they make me laugh. As I was dividing my attention between the TV (I worship thee) and the internet, I saw one of their “Pixie Previews”.

And that’s when it was over for me.

Just as I was about to Google up more information the commercial was nice enough to direct me to the website. I immediately stopped what I was doing and quickly cyberspaced my way to the source. It’s beautiful… but then I would expect nothing less from Disney. I spent at least an hour reading up on the Pixie/Fairies (the names are used interchangeably by Disney) and where they live ( Pixie Hollow if you care to know). I watched the movie preview, ALL the “Pixie Previews” and even created my own Pixie/Fairy! So yeah, that was AWESOME and for some reason it really made my day.

And now…

I said a post or so ago that I was going to list some sites that I found helpful in my journey to Blogdom (basically I did several searches and clicked around a lot). I’m sure the more experienced bloggers have “been there & done that” but on the off chance this *might* help someone else, I’ll go ahead and compile a list of sites that might be helpful to someone that’s as much of a newbie as I am.

NOTE: Because I’m kinda slow, I didn’t bookmark a lot (or any) of the sites I visited. So, the links you see here were dug out of my “history”.

As usual, be careful with anything you download. Don’t go and try to hold me responsible for anything… your computer your responsibility. Click at your own risk and all that (I’m not trying to scare you, but people can be unbelievable).

So here goes:

BLOG LAYOUTS:

  • www.pyzam.com/(LOTS of layouts, but from what I’ve seen it’s just variations of Blogger’s “Minima” theme)
  • http://freeblogger-templates.blogspot.com(this site pops up everywhere!)

GENERAL BLOGGER HELP (any and everything)

  • http://betabloggerfordummies.blogspot.com (OMG! Extremely informative)

And here’s a helpful site for some BASIC HTML codes:

Sure, you could just Google and find a ton of stuff on your own but hopefully this saves you a little time in the long run.

That’s pretty much it. There were supposed to be more links under “General Blogger” but I couldn’t find the rest of them (and once again my eyes were ready to explode from staring at my screen for too long so I just gave up).

Anyways, I hope this is helpful.

THING OF THE DAY:

Meh. I think the Pixie was enough! :-)

As a parent, I really dislike Disney..only because my girls sit and watch it 24/7 and Hannah Montana is on my hit list. LOL

I used to like Disney, but like everything in our insane society, it’s become BIG business! I’m soooooo SICK of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus…whoever the F@#$ she is! My daughter is obsessed with her! Bleech!! Anyway, let me gain my composure… thanks for the blog links. Here’s another one to check out for HTML help: http://www.webmonkey.com/ I especially love their HTML cheat sheet!

Hey, how did you add the security thing-y? I’ve been meaning to do that…

    Take care, and KEEP blogging!

Sassy - Yes, it appears Hannah Montana is on several “Hit” Lists… LOL. I never watch her show, after one episode I made the decision to pass. And thank goodness, I’m easily susceptible to Disney and their badly (however amusing) shows.

Random Chick - Hahaha… I also suspect I can’t get into the show because when I heard her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, was on it I just assumed it was a way for him to re-launch his career.

You can add the “word verification” (which I think is what you want) by just going to your Blogger settings, click on Comments and then just scroll down until you see: “Show word verification for comments?” then select “yes”. And thanks for the additional HTML site!

And THANKS! for adding me your blogroll and for the encouragement. I needed it! :-)

hahaha I love your “girly” disclaimer :D

I’ve never liked Disney, except for Donald Duck and the old Robin Hood movie.

I’m more into Bugs Bunny and friends :)

Oh yeah… I used to watch them on my Saturday morning cartoons! Unless I stay up all night I have no idea what Saturday morning looks like anymore… not sure if that’d good or bad. :-/

OH MY GOODNESS your blog looks awesome…puts mine to shame…when I’m not so lazy I’m gonna use your links to improve mine.

Lizzy - Thanks! It took me a while to find the information I wanted on the ‘net, but once I did it was smooth from there. I think in the future it will be easier to modify things the way I want them.

It’s kinda fun messing around with stuff and seeing what you come up with. It turns out I just wanted a simple design with a nice simple header… this will do for a while. I said that last time, but this time I really mean it!
