Jillian and the Pictures of Yesteryear!
It’s your lucky day today! Why you ask? Because it’s picture day! I was going through an old photo album and found some pictures I think I won’t regret sharing.
I think.
The following pictures deserve an introduction.
First off, I have no idea how old I am in these photos. I do know these were taken before my mom and I left for my birthday party at Straw Hat Pizza. Has anyone heard of this place? Out here at least, they are out of business. I remember the pizza being awesome, but then I also thought what I wore in the following pictures was awesome. Whatever, I never claimed to be reliable.
I found some other photos I might share, but one humiliation at a time!
I called this outfit my “Michael Jackson Suit”. I forget why, but that’s what it was called. I honestly can’t remember if I picked this out or if my Mom did, or if she picked it out and let me think I did (Mom’s are sneaky like that, you know!).
Now…
Behold me in my [super awesome] “Michael Jackson Suit”!

That’s right, I’m winking. I thought I was hot! And you know what? Those tights are cool. Some guys find the strap around the ankle sexy… hopefully not on little girls, though. I was also sporting my favorite hairstyle: The side braid with three more in the back.
Hands on the hip = SASSY!

Umm… yeah. I just noticed the background. My Mom always made it a point to have a nice backdrop in all the pictures she took, I can’t really say what happened here. Oh well.
Notice the playful smirk and the downward tilt of the head. Seriously, on this day, you couldn’t tell me I wasn’t cute. And why would you? It was my birthday and to say anything like that would be very mean. I was a sensitive child.

I was posing next to our 1987 Nissan Maxima. I eventually inherited that car. It was great until the transmission quit, but in its defense, it HAD been working 17 years. To this day, I still love Nissan.
I was obviously really into putting my hands on my hips. I can’t remember if these poses were my own or if I was taking direction from my Mom. Either way, I was working the hell out of my “Michael Jackson Suit”!
And there you have it.
I found some other pictures of me where I’m slightly older, but I was at the age where I knew what NOT to wear and it would be hard to explain away a lot of my choices. I also have pictures of me in high school, which you’ll never see because I hadn’t heard of “eyebrow arching”. You’ve never seen such monstrosities! I also wasn’t fond of things like salad and exercise… so yeah, ‘no’ on those.
One of my goals this year [aside from winning the lottery] is to take more pictures. No, I’m not vain, but I see photos as pictorial evidence of my time here. I want to remember all the different parts of my life and have some kind of ocular proof that I did the things I did. I want my kids or grandkids to see the visual map of my life. Maybe it’s because I don’t have as many pictures of me or my family as I would like, and maybe it’s because my Grandparents died before I got a real chance to know them. I think it’s important for future generations to know those that came before them… and that one of them maintained a KICK ASS blog!
Yes, I am not above self-promotion… even after I’m dead!

THING OF THE DAY:
Seriously… not a bad product!

Those are very cute pics
Thanks for sharing.
I like the Asswipes.
lol
but for the moment will have to deal with my toilet paper.
Nice one mate… Its really nice to see those pics from the childhood days.
As I grew older, my photos became lesser; I wish I had more pics from my college years.
Good one…
butterflysnf- LOL… thanks. I think that’s all I have in terms of “cute” though. And thanks for stopping by!
Arv- Yeah, I see our friends pull out these huge albums and I always feel a little sad that I don’t have more pics from my childhood. Hopefully I’ll take more in 2008, might as well start now!
Maybe not Michael, but definetely a Jackson with those threads.
whatigotsofar- My taste has improved I think… I mean, I wouldn’t wear this today. But I DID love that suit, though.
Very cute, and being an acknowledged shoe slut, or so the other half tells me, I can agree the strap around the ankle is a real good look.
You were one cute little girl. If you ever have kids, you KNOW if they take after you they’ll be cute
I am about to scan some more of my childhood pics.
But the ones with me in a shell suit will never be seen! I hated having my photo and still do, but like you I want a visual map of my life, which is a rather cool way of putting it
You were very cute.
Carl- You’re a shoe slut? I love it! I should invest in some sexier shoes, trainers don’t really get the juices flowing.
Mike- Thanks! If they can’t be smart, at least they can have looks to fall back on! :-DD
Claire- Thanks, Claire. I definitely need to pester some family members for more and go through some old stuff. I don’t know what has made me so picture hungry.
Oh My God…. you are CRAZY adorable. I love these pictures. Too Cute.
No one will argue that you were (and still are, of course) gorgeous! I think I remember Michael wearing that same outfit.
You picked a worthy goal. Photos can serve many purposes. Whenever my kids get on my last nerves, I whip out the photo album, and remember how adorable they were, and are, beneath their teenage exteriors, and peace is restored.
I do remember Straw Hat - delicious!
Meleah Rebeccah- Thanks! If only I could find a suit like this now…
Keli- Thanks! I’m going to try to remember to bring the camera whenever we hang out or do something cool. And you remember Straw Hat? Awesome… Man, that place was good.
Oh my God, you are absolutely adorable!!! You rocked that Michael Jackson suit like it was your full time job!!
Cool and hot at the same time! Can’t wait to see more beautiful pics!
What is it with Nissan? Everyone we know who’s ever had a Nissan has been in love with it. How come?
Mimzie- Hahaha, thanks! If I rocked it now, you think people would look at me funny?
Roufa Tav Gosou & Mimi Lass- I see you guys are back! Nice!
The transmission in our Nissan lasted for 17 years! Aside from the regular maintenance, my Mom never had any other trouble with it. When you get a car that’s THAT reliable (especially when you can’t spare much to fix it if something DOES go wrong), you feel a little loyalty to the company.
LMFAO @ asswipes.
Those pics could be mine. Except I never had an awesome Michael Jackson suit like that. But I had those tights!
Thanks for commenting on my blog.
OMG! Michael Jackson probably got his whole captain suit thing from you!! He’s probably viewing your blog right now going, “I remember her, she inspired me!” He just didn’t have the balls to wear those tights…does he have balls? Anyway, CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!! I’ll be scanning some humiliating photos of me too very soon. Just wait until you see my shoulder pads! I look like I was trying out for the 49ers!
Angelika- Nice to see you. I will be stopping by in the future as well!
Random Chick- OMG! I… cannot…wait! It took my Mom forever to stop trying to get me to wear stuff with shoulder pads. She just kept holding on to the dream. Bring on the pics!!!
Oh yeah, very sassy with those hands on the hips!
Nice to have some proof of ones existence, to pass on to future generations
And yep, ankle straps are sexy, but not on little girls.
Interesting toilet paper too LOL
Wow! You really know how to work the camera! I bet your Mom took hundreds of photos… cause you are tres adorables!!!!
Oh, I really need these!!! Awesome!
Lovely pics… it’s so nice to look back at how we were and yes, I also need to take more photos, I take loads of things but not ppl..
Frank- Haha, thanks!
Dawn- I think she did! I have no idea where they are… if they are anywhere!
Whiney Momma- Haha… Oh yeah. I can remember quite a few days that 5-ply would have come in handy!
Lady Banana- I’m picture crazy for some reason. I hope I stick to what I said and actually snap of photos of us [the H and I].
YOU GO GIRL!! And yes you were working that suit!
I need more pics of me also… will start taking more tomorrow, I think?
I think Mike and his dad would appreciate those ass-wipes! LOL!! if you read his blog today you will know what I am talking about
Single!
omg.. you are darling! I love the tights!
And.. do you know my dad, btw? He used to call toilet paper ‘asswipes’ all the time. He was a Marine, so I don’t know if that had something to do with it? Not sure.
Anyway… post those pics! It’s good to look back with a big grin.. my kids look at my old pics and call me a dork. : P I told them it was ‘in style’ to be a dork. lol
Love the pics, Jillian!
Kid Pics and Ass Wipes… great combo!!!
I love the asswipes…:)))) It’s kinda nice tripping down memory lane now and again..
ps……I tagged you
Ahhhh. Look at how cute you are.
I definitely think someone needs to go to market with those ass wipes.
you were rocking those shoes and your MJ clothes. lol. It’s fun to look back.
Single In The City- Yes, more pics! I wish I could find more… well more I’m willing to post! Who knows? I might get drunk one night and throw caution to the wind!
The_Mrs- LOL… you know I still wear tights? They don’t run as easily as stockings, I am not ashamed! Hahaha, my dad called them “asswipes” too! He was in the Air Force. Maybe it’s just a Military thing! I was very much a dork and still am!! :-DD
Jeannette- LOL. I think kids everywhere need some “asswipes”!
Robert- Indeed. It brought back some memories I thought I had forgotten!
Meleah Rebeccah- LOL… awesome! I still have three others ones I think! I AM going to do them, though.
Mr. Shife- LOL. Agreed. I’ve needed some 5ply in the past!
Natural Woman- Check me out, right? LOL.
I think the MJ suit is cute, m’dear!
At least your mom knows how to WORK a camera. My mother never really got the jist of it.
Also, most of my childhood pictures are on SLIDES and we know how often people look at SLIDES, now, don’t we?
Thanks for visiting my site!
Sudiegirl- Thanks! I can’t make up my mind if I’d wear today if I had the chance. Maybe for memories sake! And thank you!
Gotta love the plats and barrettes
I think you favored more Janet Jackson than Michael. You have inspired me to dig out some photos of myself. Love it!!
TOPolk- Those were the days!
Sassy- Go for it! I hope you find lots!!
CUTE. AS. A. BUTTON…!!!
And that’s high praise coming from a button.
Angry- Thanks!!!
great pictures jill, and the ‘michael jackson suit’ brings back memories of my own fashion sense at that time. LOL
Monaco- Hey! Thanks!
